Position Overview:

Are you passionate about shaping the future of the HVACR industry? The EARTH Education Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing and directing engineering workforce development projects. This full-time position involves strategic planning, project management, and collaboration with educational institutions to enhance HVACR training programs.

About the Engineering Research Center (ERC): The Environmentally Applied Refrigerant Technology Hub (EARTH) aims to revolutionize the HVACR industry by creating a sustainable refrigerant lifecycle. With a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, EARTH is a collaborative effort involving several prestigious institutions, including the University of Kansas and the University of Notre Dame. Join us in making a significant impact on the environment and society!

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Management & Coordination (25%)
• Collaborate with faculty and staff from six institutions to deliver comprehensive workforce development activities for all educational levels.
• Work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer to promote EARTH’s mission.
• Curriculum Development & Dissemination (25%)
• Design and update undergraduate and graduate curricula based on the latest technologies from the EARTH project.
• Employ competency-based education principles to enhance course offerings.
• Industry and Stakeholder Outreach (25%)
• Engage with professional communities through presentations, papers, and conferences to promote workforce development initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry partners to foster collaboration.
• Operations & Supervision (20%)
• Lead compliance activities, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards.
• Supervise personnel and manage the day-to-day operations of curriculum development.
• Other Responsibilities (5%)
o Complete additional tasks as assigned by the EARTH ERC Director.

Position Requirements:

This role primarily requires on-site presence, with limited remote work options based on mutual agreement.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering, engineering education, education, administration, business, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years in an educational administrative position and/or supervising personnel in an organization of 50+ employees.
• Minimum of five years working on complex projects involving multiple partners.
• Project management skills to successfully deliver on multiple projects simultaneously, as evidenced in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate in engineering, engineering education, education, administration, business, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in an educational administrative position with a strong emphasis on curriculum development.
• Minimum of five years’ experience supervising personnel in an organization of 50+ employees.
• Experience as a secondary or postsecondary science educator.
• Experience in managing NSF or other grant-funded workforce development programs.
