ASEE Selects CFO

Washington, D.C. – May 15, 2023

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) is pleased to announce the selection of Jaime Ulloa as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With a proven track record of success in the nonprofit industry, Ulloa brings more than 17 years of experience in financial management and leadership to the society. That includes his time as ASEE's Controller and Director of Accounting for 18 months through May 2021.

Ulloa has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Maryland. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Throughout his career, Ulloa has held director and controller positions, overseeing finance and accounting operations for numerous small and large nonprofit organizations. His expertise in streamlining processes, implementing new policies and procedures, and establishing strong internal controls has consistently resulted in clean financial audits for these organizations. Ulloa has also worked closely with CFOs and Chief Operating Officers to align financial goals with the vision of the nonprofits.

As an exceptional leader, Ulloa has effectively managed the financial operations of organizations of varying budgets and complexity. His areas of expertise include financial statement preparation, budgeting, internal controls, forecasting, audits, tax returns, payroll processing, and compliance with federal and state regulations. His former employers include HIAS Inc., a nonprofit humanitarian organization in Silver Spring, Md., the American College of Medical Genetics in Bethesda, Md., and the American Health Lawyers Association in Washington, D.C.

ASEE Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Dr. Jacqueline El-Sayed, expressed confidence in Ulloa's ability to lead ASEE's financial strategy: "The ASEE CFO Search Committee believes that Ulloa's firsthand knowledge of our society and his extensive experience, exceptional financial acumen, and leadership skills will be invaluable in helping ASEE to advance engineering and engineering technology education."
